The charter, culled from the call for votes:

	The purpose of the newsgroup sci.econ.research will be for
	the exchange of information about new lines of research,
	new methods of research, and results of current research
	in economics.  In addition, announcements of professional
        conferences, "calls for papers," and other information
        of interest to economists will be considered, based on
        pertinence, interest level, and the amount of traffic
        appearing on the newsgroup.  Posts of informational value 
        may be combined into single postings at the discretion of 
        the moderator.

	Research in all fields of economics will be considered.

                              MODERATION
                              ----------

	The group "sci.econ.research" will be moderated by Forrest Smith,
	a member of the staff of the Department of Economics at Duke 
	University.  In extreme cases, articles will be directed to
        members of a panel of professional economists for an informed
        decision regarding the articles' relevance to sci.econ.research.

	Discussion of the articles presented in sci.econ.research
        will be considered for posting in sci.econ.research.
        Such discussion will be closely monitored by the moderator,
        and the presentation of the discussion may be edited, at
        the moderator's discretion, to adhere to the moderator's
        perception of readability and aesthetics.  The moderator
        may combine several articles of discussion into a single
        article, with the contributors' contributions to the 
        compilation clearly attributed.

        Authors of submitted material must be unambiguously identified 
        for consideration for inclusion in sci.econ.research.
        No personal attacks will be tolerated within the newsgroup.

        The contents of sci.econ.research will be archived, along with
        all articles submitted to sci.econ.research.
